User Group Leaders’ Meetings – Asia Pacific (APOUC) and EMEA (EOUC) Networking, sharing best practices and learning about new products and services from Oracle, user group leaders from the APAC and EMEA regions met at their regional conferences in May 2012. Over 40 leaders representing Europe, Middle East and Africa user groups met in Riga, Latvia to share information about their organizations and determine how to collaborate on activities in their region. Organizations represented communities focused on Java, MySQL, Database/technology, industries and all applications. The leaders participated in exciting ‘unconference’ sessions, technical sessions about Java and update sessions on Oracle’s products and services. The two day meeting is important for the leaders because it gives them a chance to learn about other groups and how they are addressing issues that are common to all user group communities. “This is an important meeting for our EMEA leaders. They are able to address issues and discuss future conferences while working together with Oracle,” commented Janny Ekelson, OBUG Board of Directors and EOUC spokesperson. And success continued in Asia Pacific as the regional APOUC Leaders’ Meeting met in Shanghai, May 16-18. Leader participation doubled in 2012 and included representatives from India, China, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, Taiwan, Australia and Singapore! Leaders shared ideas about successful conferences and offered suggestions for working together in the future. Oracle provided information about upcoming events and how the user groups could be involved in events. Commenting on the value of the three days, Chitti Babu, Chairperson, India Oracle Applications User Group confirmed, “User group leaders devote quite a bit of time to their organizations throughout the year. It’s great that Oracle recognizes this and hosts a conference specifically devoted to regional leadership.” Read more about attendee feedback: · APOUC: http://www.iouc.org/p/bl/et/blogid=2&blogaid=33 · EOUC: http://www.iouc.org/p/bl/et/blogid=2&blogaid=34
